Get Ready for the State Fair!

Published August 1, 2019

It seems like it just started, but summer’s end is already creeping up! If you and your kids still want to hang on to that summer fun, end the summer season by heading to the Indiana State Fair. With lots of food and amusement, the Fair is a great way to see the season out on a good note.

Admission

If you buy your tickets in advance, you can get nearly 40% off ticket prices ($8 with a $1 convenience fee), and children 5 and under are totally free! Be sure to score this deal by buying tickets before 11:59 PM on August 1.

Want more deals? Two Dollar Tuesdays are a great way to save. Admission prices are $2, and so are Midway ride tickets. Most food vendors offer $2 tastes, as well! There are several other days special groups of people can save on admission (military, first responders, and cancer survivors to name just a few), so be sure to check out those discounts to see if you qualify.

Free Stage

Looking to rock out with your kids? Check out who’s playing at the Free Stage, and watch bands for absolutely no cost! Among those performing are artists like Ace Frehey and Air Supply, but you can check out the full list of performers here, with more artists to be announced soon. There is no reserved seating, so be sure to get to the stage early if you want the best seats!

Animal Town

Are your kids all about the animals? You’ll want to stop by Animal Town to see all of the creatures and critters being presented. There are huge barns full of every farm animal you can think of, so the youngsters will be pleased for sure. See the horses with all of their funny personalities, or coo over the adorable assortment of bunnies. On display is also Indiana’s largest pig—definitely a sight to see!

Midway

Want the thrill of the amusement park without the cost and the drive time? Head on over to the Midway at the State Fair. With activities for all of the kids, the Midway is sure to keep them entertained for hours. Your kiddos will need to meet the height requirement to ride (36 inches); after all, we know safety is the number one priority! Buy a wristband for unlimited access, or purchase single ride tickets for those who won’t be at the Midway all day. Also, if you are purchasing the wristband, check out the Midway’s wristband hours to be sure you get there at a good time for maximum fun.

The State Fair has been an Indiana tradition for over 150 years, and is an absolute summer must. Celebrate the Heroes in the Heartland by heading to the Fairgrounds and having fun!
